Introduction
MiraiLens provides software that allows compatible AI agents and MCP clients to interact with a user's browser through the MiraiLens Connector Chrome extension.
The system is designed around controlled browser interaction.
The extension maintains browser-control state and evaluates requests before allowing AI-controlled browser actions to execute. This Privacy Policy describes the information that may be accessed or processed as part of providing this functionality and explains how the different components of MiraiLens interact.
What MiraiLens Does
MiraiLens enables compatible AI agents and MCP clients to interact with a user's browser through a browser extension.
The system is designed so that an AI agent does not receive unrestricted control over the browser.
The MiraiLens Connector evaluates browser-control requests and maintains control states that can include AI execution, human takeover, blocking, and emergency-stop conditions. The extension can also respond to user interaction and connection events to prevent AI-controlled browser actions from continuing when human control has been asserted.
Information MiraiLens May Process
The exact information processed depends on how you use MiraiLens and which browser actions you authorize. MiraiLens may process information necessary to provide browser-control functionality, including the following categories.
Browser and Tab Information
The extension may access information about browser tabs that is necessary to identify and interact with the browser tab being controlled. This may include:
- The active tab;
- Tab identifiers;
- Tab URLs or navigation information where required by browser functionality;
- Tab lifecycle information, such as whether a connected tab has been closed; and
- Information required to determine whether a browser action should continue.
Access to browser tabs should not be interpreted as meaning that MiraiLens automatically collects or stores a complete history of every website visited by a user.
Website Content
When you instruct MiraiLens to perform an action on a webpage, the extension may need to access webpage content or page structure required to perform that action. Depending on the requested browser operation, this may include:
- Webpage text, page elements, and links;
- Form elements and DOM information;
- Navigation state or other webpage information required to perform the requested operation.
MiraiLens does not treat access to webpage content as permission to use that information for unrelated purposes. Webpage information is processed only to the extent necessary to provide the browser-control functionality requested through MiraiLens.
Browser Interaction Information
MiraiLens may detect certain browser interaction events that are necessary for its human-control and safety mechanisms.
For example, the extension may detect user interaction such as mouse or keyboard activity to determine whether the user has resumed control of the connected browser.
This functionality is used to determine control state, not to create a behavioral profile of the user. MiraiLens does not intentionally use these events to build an advertising profile or track users across unrelated websites.
Control and Connection State
The extension maintains technical state required to safely coordinate browser automation. This can include:
- Whether an AI action is currently running;
- Whether the browser is under human control;
- Whether an action has been blocked or whether an emergency stop is active;
- Which tab is connected, whether an MCP connection is active, and whether an action is pending; and
- Information required to safely abort or resume authorized operations.
Some control state may be stored locally in the browser using Chrome's extension storage mechanisms.
How We Use Information
MiraiLens uses information only as necessary to provide, maintain, secure, and operate the functionality of the software.
Depending on the feature being used, information may be processed to:
- Execute authorized browser actions and communicate between the MCP server and extension;
- Identify the browser tab associated with a session and maintain control state;
- Detect human takeover, pause/stop/abort AI actions, and enforce emergency stop;
- Prevent concurrent actions from interfering, handle disconnections, and maintain reliable operation;
- Diagnose technical problems where diagnostic information is actually available to us.
MiraiLens does not use browser information for advertising or unrelated profiling purposes.
Human Control and Takeover
Human control is a fundamental part of the MiraiLens architecture.
The extension may detect direct user interaction with the connected browser in order to determine whether the user has resumed control.
When a qualifying interaction occurs, MiraiLens may transition the browser-control state away from AI execution. For example, an interaction with the connected browser may cause an AI action to be interrupted or prevented from continuing.
The purpose of this processing is browser safety and user control. It is not intended to monitor a user's personal behavior.
Emergency Stop
MiraiLens provides an emergency-stop mechanism intended to prevent further AI-controlled browser execution.
When an emergency stop is activated, the extension maintains an emergency-stop state and prevents an AI-controlled resume operation from bypassing that state.
A human-authorized reset is required before normal operation can resume. This mechanism is part of MiraiLens's browser-control safety architecture.
MCP Communications
MiraiLens uses the Model Context Protocol to communicate browser-control requests between compatible MCP clients and the MiraiLens MCP server.
The MCP server may send requests to the browser extension for authorized browser operations. The extension independently evaluates these requests against its current control state.
In particular, a message received from the server cannot establish human authority merely by declaring itself to have originated from a human. The extension distinguishes remote server-originated requests from actions authorized through the extension's internal control mechanisms, helping prevent remote spoofing.
Local Browser Storage
MiraiLens may use Chrome extension storage to maintain information necessary for the operation and safety of the extension. This can include:
- Emergency-stop state;
- Pause ownership;
- Connected browser tab information; and other local technical configurations.
Information stored using Chrome's local extension storage is stored within the browser environment according to Chrome's extension storage mechanisms. MiraiLens does not represent locally stored browser information as server-side storage.
Data Sharing
MiraiLens does not sell personal information.
Information may be transmitted between components of the MiraiLens system when such transmission is necessary to provide the requested functionality. For example, browser-control information flows locally through the following general path:
Depending on the requested operation, information may also flow in the opposite direction.
The information transmitted depends on the browser operation being performed. If webpage content is required to perform or report a requested browser action, that content may be transmitted through the relevant MCP communication path. Users should therefore avoid authorizing browser automation on pages containing sensitive information unless they understand that the requested AI/browser workflow may process that information.
Third-Party Services
MiraiLens may depend on third-party infrastructure or software libraries to provide particular functionality. The mirailens npm package and MiraiLens software may also communicate with services configured by the user or by an MCP client.
On our website, we use Google Analytics (provided by Google LLC) to measure website traffic and user engagement. Google Analytics processes data such as your IP address, device identifiers, and browser activity. This tracking only occurs on the MiraiLens website itself and is not used inside the local MCP server or Chrome extension.
MiraiLens does not intentionally disclose user information to third parties for advertising or unrelated profiling. The actual infrastructure and third-party service inventory should remain consistent with the software's current deployment and configuration.
We do not list services that MiraiLens does not actually use. We do not invent advertising providers or monitoring services.
Data Retention
MiraiLens retains information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it is processed, unless a longer period is required by applicable law.
Certain information may exist only temporarily while an operation or connection is active. Certain extension control state may remain stored locally until it is cleared, replaced, or otherwise removed by the extension or the user.
We do not invent specific server-side retention periods. Where MiraiLens infrastructure stores information for a defined period, the policy will be updated to accurately describe that period.
Data Security
MiraiLens uses technical mechanisms designed to protect browser-control operations and reduce unauthorized execution. These mechanisms include:
- Authorization checks before AI browser actions
- Human takeover and emergency stop controls
- In-flight action-abortion mechanisms
- Connection and WebSocket disconnect monitoring
- Concurrent-action protection and tab validation
- Persistent emergency stop states and server source checks
Where information is transmitted over a network, appropriate secure transport mechanisms should be used.
No software system or method of transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Accordingly, MiraiLens does not guarantee absolute security.
User Control
Users remain responsible for deciding when and where to use MiraiLens.
Depending on the functionality being used, users may:
- Take manual control of the browser at any time;
- Stop active AI execution or engage the emergency stop;
- Disconnect active browser sessions, close the connected tab, or stop the MCP server;
- Uninstall the MiraiLens Connector extension.
Users should exercise particular care when using browser automation on pages containing confidential, financial, authentication, health, or other sensitive information.
Sensitive Information
MiraiLens is a browser-control system and may potentially operate on webpages containing sensitive information.
MiraiLens does not require users to provide sensitive information merely to use the software.
However, if a user instructs MiraiLens to interact with a webpage containing sensitive information, that information may become part of the browser interaction and may be processed by the relevant components of the user's AI/MCP workflow. Users should not authorize MiraiLens to interact with sensitive webpages unless they understand the implications of the particular workflow and the services involved.
Authentication Information
MiraiLens may encounter authentication-protected webpages when a user chooses to automate a browser that is already signed in.
MiraiLens does not request users to provide passwords directly to the MiraiLens website.
However, browser automation may operate within an authenticated browser session. Users should therefore understand that an AI-controlled browser can potentially interact with information available to that authenticated session. MiraiLens's control mechanisms are intended to provide the user with the ability to interrupt such operations.
Children's Privacy
MiraiLens is a developer and technical software product and is not specifically directed toward children.
We do not knowingly design MiraiLens to collect personal information from children for purposes unrelated to providing the service.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information to MiraiLens in circumstances where such collection was not appropriate, please contact us.
International Data Processing
MiraiLens may be used by individuals located in different countries.
Where information is transmitted through internet-based services or infrastructure located in another jurisdiction, the information may be processed outside the user's country.
The specific locations and infrastructure used for MiraiLens services may change as the project develops. Where applicable law requires additional safeguards for international transfers, MiraiLens will implement those safeguards as required.
We do not invent hosting countries, transfer mechanisms, Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy decisions, or other legal mechanisms.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live and which privacy laws apply to you, you may have rights concerning your personal information. These rights may include:
- Requesting access to your personal information;
- Requesting correction of inaccurate information or deletion of personal information;
- Requesting restriction or objecting to certain processing activities;
- Withdrawing consent or submitting a complaint to your relevant local supervisory authority.
The availability and scope of these rights depend on applicable law and MiraiLens's role in the relevant processing activity.
We do not make jurisdiction-specific legal claims unless they have been verified for the final business structure and data-processing model.
Chrome Web Store
The MiraiLens Connector Chrome extension is distributed through the Chrome Web Store.
The extension requests browser permissions necessary for its browser-control functionality. These permissions may include: activeTab, tabs, scripting, storage, alarms, and relevant web host permissions.
These permissions exist to provide the extension's browser-control functionality and should not automatically be interpreted as meaning that MiraiLens independently collects all information accessible through those permissions. For example, permission to interact with the active browser tab does not by itself mean that MiraiLens collects a complete browsing history.
Open-Source Software
Certain MiraiLens software is distributed as open-source software.
The public source code may allow users and developers to inspect how particular components of the software operate.
Open-source availability does not change the privacy obligations or practices described in this Privacy Policy.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when:
- MiraiLens functionality or our data-processing practices change;
- New services are introduced or legal requirements change;
- Improvements are made to the clarity or accuracy of this policy.
When we make material changes, we may update the “Last updated” date displayed at the beginning of this Privacy Policy. Users should periodically review this page for changes.
